Description
There are multiple examples and opportunities for the sharing of traffic data throughout the state. More and more local agencies are deploying ITS. These agencies are often interested in sharing the information from these devices with WSDOT, while also expressing interest in WSDOT's data. The limited availability of communications infrastructure and a desire for improving local agency coordination and information sharing has required WSDOT and local agencies to look at a variety of solutions, including innovative multi-agency agreements and partnerships. In the Southwest Region, local agencies send planned events and other traveler information data to the TMC, where it is entered into CARS and posted on the Southwest Region web site.
