Vancouver, Washington -- Where might we need new transportation corridors in the long-term future? Potential answers to this question will be the subject of an open house scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clark County Public Service Center lobby, 1300 Franklin Street.

In late 2006, the Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council Board initiated the Transportation Corridors Visioning Study, recognizing that transportation corridors take a considerable amount of time to plan for and build. The purpose of the study is to determine where new transportation corridors might be needed in the long-term future -- when Clark County reaches one million people (in about 50 years). The study is being guided by an eight-member Steering Committee of public officials appointed by the RTC Board.

The Steering Committee is now considering several possible future transportation corridors for further exploration, including the size and type of roadways the new corridors should be. Apart from the potential new regional corridors, discussion at Steering Committee meetings has recognized the importance of completing a street level grid system to support travel between the new regional corridors.

The Steering Committee is inviting feedback and questions regarding the proposed corridor alternatives through the Open House scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clark County Public Service Center lobby, 1300 Franklin Street. Public participation is welcomed and encouraged.
